Peru: A series of moments.

The day has finally come friends.
The visual film I made in Peru is finally done!!!

Quite anxious to be releasing this, but definitely excited to have finished editing it.
Even though it took centuries to go through each clip, my emotions took over me as I reminisced about how great that trip was. It brought back a lot of happy memories.

My advice to anyone traveling would just be to capture the moments in action, the moments you’ve felt the most alive, and the moments that turn into great stories. Capture that great story.

This film is simply just to share the beauty I got to witness in Peru.
I am by no means a cinematographer or anything close to that (I’ve realized when editing).
With that said, I hope you all enjoy!

Cheers. x

My sweet summer's gone.

HOW IS SEPTEMBRE ALREADY COMING TO A CLOSE?
geez time really does go by fast.

IMG_1670.jpg

Halloween is tiptoeing right around the corner, and here I am still in a summer daze.
Occasionally, I get really bad cases of nostalgia. As much as I try to stay away from reminiscing about the past, how could I with all my past summer Polaroid pictures, welcoming me every time I walk in my room?

This past summer was filled with contentment, due to a series of adventures.
Me, being the over thinker that I am. The fear of not being able to feel that type of satisfaction again, has crossed my mind so many times.
Was summer just a fluke? I asked myself.
Was it an allusion? I asked myself.
Perhaps i’ll never feel that way again? I asked myself.
Could it have been just a brief hiccup, in this dull life of mine? I asked myself.

If it’s one thing I do know, when looking back at all those pictures, I know I don’t want to stop living those great moments. I’m still off seeking those adventures, that make your eyes light up whenever you start talking about them. I suppose that’s what makes those moments their own little special story; the unexpectedness of it.

So yeah, my sweet summer might be gone.
But life is but an afternoon, and the night is still young.

MC.

Hello?

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Anyone there?
Long time no see.

I guess nothing can really explain or even justify my abrupt absence. September has been that type of month where you have that mentality of being productive but the hecticness of everything got the best of you -- It got the best of me. I’ve been so wrapped up in my surroundings that I forgot what it’s like to enjoy the art of writing, and film. Eventually, I got tired of the whole feeling sorry for myself - laziness - numbness - getting home and staring at the ceiling, and making a ridiculous amount of excuses - phase.
So hello, I am back and ready to create again.

So what has the month of September consisted of so far?

Well it started out with a lot of this…
meh.jpg

and this…
IMG_1661.jpg

listening to this...
IMG_1560.JPG

and of course this…

and can’t forget this…

So where did creativity fall into all of that? It didn’t.
Thankfully, the month isn’t over yet, because I’ve had enough of sitting around, and this past week has been a turning point for me.
I’ve actually never been so inspired; everywhere I look is a new potential muse.

To all content creators out there: We’ve all been through those times where we beat ourselves up, thinking that our craft has no purpose or use. I’ve spent so many nights, scraping up so many of my writings, and future film ideas, because I thought they weren’t “good enough”.

What is “good enough”? I can’t answer that.

“Good enough” varies from person to person, from taste to taste. It’s a myth we create in our heads to generate mediocrity. Create something that pleases you, and as long as you're satisfied with what you end up crafting; nothing else really matters. If it inspires people on the way, well that’s just a bonus.

So I guess that’s pretty much it.

Until next time. x

MC.

Dear Summer,

So I guess this is goodbye?
I've never been an expert at saying goodbye or letting go. So I apologize in advance if this turns out a mess.

With that said, this has probably been the best summer yet.
A lot has changed, yet a lot feels like it should be.
A lot has felt familiar without it being done before.
Almost like a new lifestyle without me realizing any different.
Some of the best memories of my life have been documented this summer,
and I can't wait for more to come.
More adventures, more to reminisce, and more stories to share.
I'm entering this new year radiating of contentment and pure satisfaction.
I've truly loved this summer - I was awake -,

and that's an achievement to be proud of.
I have nothing but my lovely friends to thank for that!
If its one thing I've learned this summer its to surround yourself with people that not only make you the most happiest, but also seek to experience the number of adventures that life has to offer.
Until next time. x

Sincerely,
MC.

An afternoon on McQueen street.

Disclaimer: Hello! Ok, so I might start this thing where I take pictures from tumblr that inspire me, and either write a poem or a short story about it. There were so many ways I could of gone with this one. So I just ran with it. Enjoy! x

This lovely picture is brought to you by tumblr. x

It was just a normal afternoon in my one bedroom apartment in New York, when I decided that I wanted to get away. The city couldn't offer me the privacy that I desired. So I went on the building's rooftop. I've never been here before. It was a small platform surrounded by lifeless plants following each corner. The air suffused of a cool gust of stress that came familiar to New York; so I sat on the edge to prevent a head rush. My feet dangled as the McQueen street was below me. It was painted in black and white, wide enough for maximum capacity. Short enough, to get on the other side. Intrigued of what lied beneath my feet, I carefully looked down. I noticed a number of heads hastily walking by when the running man lit up; they were crossing the white stripes painted on black. 3 strangers walking all at once but not in harmony. A moment ceased for the cars to pass by. And then 5 uncommon heads proceeded: a couple holding hand in hand, a man walking with his nose buried in his phone, a woman striding with her nose held high, and then a teenage boy trailing behind to catch the earliest train. All these people were doing something different but had the same goal. I, myself, had something in common with all these incongruous moving heads. They seek to get to the other side, and I seek to get away. The running man lit up. 7 strangers crossed in a hurry. In the end, we all hoped to get to that destination.

Quiet!
They’ll hear you.
How loud can you be?
Silence your mind absent;
even hushed tones can be deafening.
They’ll heed at your thoughts,
as it’s radiating out of you.
Quick!
Your words escape,
exhaling from your lips.
Blink back what you see,
and erase those theories.
Hurry!
Before you start thinking out loud.

Somewhere on Wellington street.

YESTERDAY, me and two of my bestfriends walked the street of Wellington under the burning bright sun, seeking the adventure that is absent from our own neighborhood.

Early morning, shades on, camera’s in hand, we were ready.

Let’s Cue the picture overload shall we?

As we arrived at our destination, I was overwhelmed by all the little shops and boutiques that seemed endless. However, nothing floored me more than Tinseltown Christmas Emporium, a store entirely dedicated to Christmas! The 5 year old little girl inside of me was on cloud 9 as I didn’t know where to look or go next. I never wanted to leave.

Somehow this whimsical store merged into this really old classic shop that made you feel like you were apart of another era. The store was called Marie-Antoinette, and I completely understand why, after going through all the detailed tea cups, the over sized clocks written in roman letters, and the flowers that accented Marie-Antoinette’s charm.

As we continued to explore, we fell upon this boutique that looked worn out, so of course we had to check it out. I am so glad we did, it was clustered with vintage pieces from left to right, top to bottom. Everything I laid my eyes on I wanted, or was just purely fascinated by the collection of treasures.

We continued our path to this vinyl store, that welcomed us with groovy music and a kickass vinyl collection, that was waiting for us to look through them for hours. Everything about this store just screamed:“hey! if you’re a music geek please come here, you’ll love it”. From the guitars hanging on the ceiling, to the variety of vinyl collections, to the sitting area where you can listen to any vinyl you want, to the piano waiting to be played, was impressive.

We didn’t stop there. Any store that seemed intriguing, we felt the need to investigate because our curiosity was just too overpowering. We spent a while in this lovely flower shop that had a wide range of cactuses and different flowers whom I cannot pronounce.

The whole point of this adventure in the first place, was to check out this art gallery called the Cube. I was a little intimidated to take pictures in the actual gallery because I did not want to disrespect the artists and such so I just admired the talent depicted on the walls.

What I personally love about art is how misunderstood it is, everyone perceives it in a complete different way. Those different perceptions are what keeps art existing and exciting to all. If everyone had the same idea, or opinion about all types of art forms, what would art come to?

Okay but now back to this art gallery, the Cube, the best thing about this place was their rooftop! We were in awe, because it has been a mission to find an accessible rooftop where we live. This one certainly did not disappoint.

On our way back from the art gallery to find somewhere to eat, we fell upon this boutique that sells vintage clothing. We were in paradise. They had everything from docs, to feathered hats, to vinyls. This store was winning. I ended up scoring big time by buying this Levi’s light washed jean jacket from the 80’s-90’s! It’s definitely a keeper. We discovered so many classic items in this store, that it was a must to try them on.

After walking in the sun discovering all these different stores, we found a place to eat after much discussion because it was so hard to choose from all the options we had, and that does not happen often, trust me. We ate at this really laid back, black and white, themed restaurant that just made you feel really posh. We felt accomplished.

Shortly after that, we walked across the street at this very well put together cafe for dessert.
This cafe was a combination of wood, wine, mason jars, and candles, making you feel quite at home.

I never wanted this day to end.
I was so content with where I was, and who I was with.
Adventures are waiting to be sought, you just have to be willing to seek them.

MC.
